The Science as Art contributions will be revealed on Friday May 25 in the iNANO foyer. All the contributions to the Science as Art contest will be displayed and you will be able to vote for the one you think is the best. When you have made your choice, we will announce the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The best pictures will be featured in the coming iNANO Review and on the information screens.

Submission: Deadline for submitting pictures is May 1 and should be submitted to Maria Kragelund (maria@inano.au.dk) either by email, USB, link to dropbox or the like.

Competition rules:

  • Images may be obtained by any characterization technique. They may also be the result of modeling and simulation or may be obtained by combining multiple images into one artistic image. Because the focus is on art, the aesthetics rather than the scientific quality of the image is the key element of the competition.
  • Submissions are limited to three images per contestant.
  • The images must be a high resolution .jpg/.png file of at least 300 dpi. To be able to print the images, it is crucial that the size of the image is large (i.e. minimum a half A4 page, and 300 dpi).
  • Format: All submitted images must include a short description of the technique used, the object that was imaged and any special conditions.
  • Manipulation: Please include a description of the kind of manipulation that was done to the picture (i.e. cropping, adding/removing color, etc.)
  • Copyright: Must be a non-issue and the submitter must own all copyrights to the images.
  • For inspiration you can look at some of the 2014 contributions in the meeting rooms.
