Official opening of the CellPAT centre

On 1 November the CellPAT centre was officially opened and we were happy to see so many of you.

In the morning session, center leader Jørgen Kjems highlighted the perspectives and the major challenges of CellPAT and Director of the Danish National Research Foundation (DNRF) Søren-Peter Olesen explained why the DNRF were proud to support the basic research questions of how cells communicate with each other and their surroundings.

In the afternoon minisymposium Interfacing Cells with Nanostructures, the five senior researchers participating in the centre explained how each of their research will contribute to the common goal of deciphering the cellular signalling patterns. Together, the international team of senior researchers in the center cover research areas such as autoimmune diseases, targeted and regenerative medicine, which will be a great advantage in the fight against diseases such as diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and certain psychiatric disorders.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Jørgen Kjems addressed the perspectives of the new centre that he will be leading.
