Nanocatalysis Group

Our group investigates the fundamental physics and chemistry of surfaces, with a special emphasis on surface reactivity and catalysis of nanoparticles for energy applications. Our projects are focused on development of new tools for characterization as well as applying these powerful tools to achieve an atomic-scale understanding of which factors determine the specific catalytic properties of nanoparticles and nanostructures, as described in further detail under the research section.

The characterization tools we use are mainly Non-contact Atomic Force Microscopy, Scanning Tunneling Microscope, Photoemission Spectroscopy and Thermal desorption Spectroscopy. More information can be found in the laboratory sections.

The group is associated with the SPM group at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center, Aarhus University.

The OxideSynergy project is funded by a starting independent researcher grant from the European Research Council

From 1/1-2013 the group will also participate the 35.6 mio dkr in a project funded by the The Danish Council for Strategic Research together with with partners at Lund University and Haldor Topsøe A/S.

From 1/8-2013 we participate in the project "Enabling Ultra Deep HYdroDEsulphurization by Nanoscale Engineering of NewCATalysts (HYDECAT)" together with the Danish Technical University and Haldor Topsøe A/S

We are part of the following international research networks

2. COST CM1104: Reducible oxide chemistry, structure and functions
