<h3><em><strong>Construction of ordered molecular nanostructures on surfaces: from non-covalent interaction to covalent bond&nbsp;</strong></em></h3>
<p>The formation of molecular nanostructures with concomitant patterns and functions is of utmost importance in the field of surface molecular engineering and nanotechnology. With the carefully design peripheral functional groups to facilitate intermolecular interactions, the sophisticated structures with ordered pattern on solid supports can be tailored. In this presentation, recent advances toward molecular engineering of molecular nanoporous networks on solid supports will be discussed. We demonstrated that the intermolecular hydrogen bond works just like covalent bond to to transmit the chiral information from stereogenic center to the supramolecular assembly. Beyond weak intermolecular interaction, the 2D molecular networks interconnected through covalent bond have attracted great attention due to their graphene-like topology and the associated properties. We have developed simple but effective methodology to construct surface covalent networks by tailoring the surface dynamic covalent chemistry. The interplay between non-covalent interaction and covalent synthetic chemistry opens new horizon for the construction of ordered surface molecular nanostructures.
