The Royal Society of Chemistry prize for iNANO researcher

PhD student Heba Khateb has received the Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry Prize presented by The Royal Society of Chemistry. She was awarded the prize for the best poster presentation at International Symposium on Suprabiomolecular Systems (SupraBio 2019) in Barcelona on 15-17 May 2019.

Supramolecular systems are assemblies of a discrete number of chemical subunits in a controlled and desired fashion linked by intermolecular interactions. The studies of these systems are highly important for the understanding of how molecules interact and participate in creating larger molecular assemblies, e.g. a biological cell. 

The International Symposium on Suprabiomolecular Systems is an annual event that hosts high-profile plenary speakers, world-class researchers, oral and poster presentations, workshops, sponsor exhibits and afterworks.

Heba Khateb is PhD student in Centre for Cellular Signal Patterns (CellPAT), a Centre of Excellence headed by Professor Jørgen Kjems.

The poster Heba Khateb presented at the symposium shows results from her research project which is conducted as part of CellPAT and supervised by Dr. Rasmus S. Schøler, Professor Jørgen Kjems and Professor Duncan Sutherland. The title of the project is as follows:

"Multivalency in AIPs-AgrC interaction in S. aureus utilising Holliday junctions as a nanoscaffold and DNA-PAINT for localizing the AgrC distribution on the cell membrane."
