Assoc. Prof. Henrik Birkedal honored by the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences

Congratulations to Associate Professor Henrik Birkedal who is awarded the Danish polymer prize, Elastyrenprisen 2019, for being internationally recognized and leading within his research in self-healing polymer gels. The award is given by the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences (ATV).

Associate Professor Henrik Birkedal, INANO and Department of Chemistry at Aarhus University, is this year's recipient of The Danish Polymer Prize - ATV | Elastyrenprisen. The award was presented at ATV's annual meeting on 7 May. In the justification for awarding the prize, it is stated:

”Henrik Birkedal is internationally recognized and leading in his research, especially in research and development of self-healing polymer gels. His research has industrial applications and is used in the spin-off company Bioco Medico, which is founded by itself. "

The prize committee also highlights Henrik Birkedal's extensive scientific production with a very high quotation rate and his focus on educating students and disseminating knowledge both in the research world and to wider circles.

"He has been responsible for training a very large number of students and is in a very strong position in relation to the dissemination of his research in TV, radio and scientific journals."

Prize for innovation and significant results

The Danish polymer prize - ATV | The Elastyren Prize is DKK 100,000 and is given to a researcher who has distinguished himself through innovative thinking and significant results in chemical research and development of synthetic or biological polymers for medical use - including work within elastomeric materials.
