Kerry Hazeldine Awarded Early Career Researcher Poster Prize
Kerry Hazeldine, a postdoc in Jeppe Vang Lauritsen’s Interfaces and Catalysis group, has been awarded an early career researcher poster prize at the 37th European Conference on Surface Science (ECOSS-37) in Harrogate last month.
Kerry presented their current research on using near-ambient pressure scanning tunnelling microscopy and near-ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy to investigate model 2D-MoS2 (molybdenum disulphide) catalysts for hydrodeoxygenation applications.
This research is part of the HyProFuel project, a multi-disciplinary collaboration between academic and industrial partners, funded by Innovation Fund Denmark. The project aims to develop a hydrodeoxygenation catalysis and pre-treatment technology to enable the conversion of pyrolysis oil from biofuel sources, to processed renewable fuels suitable for the heavy transport and aviation sectors.
It was double success as Nico Kruse, a visiting master’s student from the Carl Von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg conducting their masters project in Jeppe’s Vang Lauritsen’s group, was also awarded the best student poster prize at ECOSS-37 for their work conducted at iNANO.
