Biosensors

The group has a longstanding tradition in developing DNA- and protein-based biosensors. This work initially focused on electrochemical sensing, achieved by integrating DNA with redox-active molecules and conductive surfaces. Building on this foundation, the group has since expanded its research to include alternative readout platforms, such as optical detection methods of proteins and small molecules in solution.

  • Detection of small molecules and proteins in blood using strand displacement reactions.
  • Protein-DNA bioconjugation in the assembly of continuous sensors.
  • DNA origami as a signal amplification tool for fibre-optic surface plasmon resonance (FO-SPR) sensors.
  • Nanowire and antibody functionalization on criss-cross origami structures.
