AMPERE Biological Solid-State NMR School 2023

Concept

The AMPERE Biological Solid-State NMR School is a biannual summer school that took place first time in 2006. The 2023 version of the summer school will be divided into two parts, an online part during the spring of 2023 and a physical part in Aarhus, Denmark in the early summer.

There is a fee of €100 for participating in the course.

Virtual part

Runs Mondays at 15:00-17:00 during the spring of 2023 alternating between lectures and exercises. The program starts March 6 and ends May 29. There will be breaks for Easter and ENC.

Physical part

Takes place at Aarhus University, Denmark June 4-9, 2023.

Practical information

Getting to Aarhus

Train: Aarhus is easily reached by train from all over Europe. It takes ca 4 hours to get here from Hamburg, which is connected by fast speed trains to the rest of Europe.

Car: Getting to Aarhus by car is easy. Just continue 3 hours north of Hamburg, then we're ready to welcome you.

Plane: Although traveling within Europe by plane is not part of our prefered policy for climate reasons, Aarhus can be reached by plane through one of the local airports: Aarhus Airport (AAR) 30 min away from the city center and Billund Airport (BLL) 1.5 hours away. In both cases busses will take you to Aarhus City. A third option is to fly into Copenhagen Airport (CPH) and take the train directly from the airport to Aarhus. The train journey takes ca 3 hours.

Hotels

There are numerous hotels and hostels in Aarhus, for an overview see visitaarhus.dk. Recommended hostels are BOOK1 or Danhostel Aarhus, but WakeUp is also a relatively cheap solutions. For hotels, we recommend Scandic City Aarhus.

Food

We plan two common events (the welcome mixer Sunday evening on June 4, 2023 and a conference dinner on Thursday June 8, 2023). Lunches are eaten in the Canteens of the University.

Venue

The physical part of the Summer School will be held at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center of Aarhus University. The University is located 2 km north of the city center and is easily reached by walking, bicycle (rental) or bus.
