Professor Jeppe Vang Lauritsen appointed new leader of iMAT at Aarhus University
Professor Jeppe Vang Lauritsen has been named the new director of the Aarhus University Centre for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT). Succeeding Bo Brummerstedt Iversen, Lauritsen aims to further iMAT's mission of advancing materials science through interdisciplinary collaboration across the faculties for natural and technical sciences.
Professor Jeppe Vang Lauritsen has been appointed as the new leader of the Aarhus University Centre for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT), following Bo Brummerstedt Iversen’s decision to step down. Lauritsen’s extensive experience in nanoscience and his active involvement in the iNANO community make him an excellent choice for this role.
In his new position, Lauritsen will collaborate with the dedicated iMAT steering groups, including Henrik Birkedal (Department of Chemistry), Anders Bentien (Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering), Ramin Aghababaei (Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering), and Yong Chen (Department of Physics). Together, they will continue to drive iMAT’s mission to support and enhance materials science research at Aarhus University.
iMAT, inaugurated in 2017, was established to foster collaboration across various scientific disciplines and departments within Aarhus University. The center’s primary goal is to support initiatives that strengthen materials science research, with a particular focus on developing new cross-departmental activities that leverage the university’s diverse expertise.
iMAT will continue to build on its strong foundation, promoting interdisciplinary research that addresses both fundamental and applied challenges in materials science. The vision includes fostering closer collaborations between departments, encouraging innovative research projects, and securing funding for state-of-the-art infrastructure and research initiatives.
"iMAT's mission is to support initiatives that strengthen materials science at AU and to support the development of new cross-departmental and cross-faculty materials science activities," Lauritsen states. He emphasizes the importance of community input and collaboration, inviting researchers and students to actively engage with iMAT to shape its future directions.
