Biofilm group (Prof. Rikke Louise Meyer)

The group

My research combines microbiology and nanotechnology in pursuit of understanding how biofilms establish, and how they can be controlled.

  • Investigation of fundamental mechanisms in bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, particularly the role of extracellular DNA.
  • Development of new approaches to  control biofilms and treat biofilm infections through targeted drug delivery, novel antibiotics and nanobiotics, and non-biocidal biofilm control with e.g. enzymes or salinity oscillation.
