Dr. Michael Boemo, who has been employed as an EScoDNA fellow in professor Andrew Turberfield’s research group at University of Oxford, has successfully defended his PhD thesis.

On May 26, 2016, Michael handed in his PhD thesis with the title, “Computation by Origami-Templated DNA Walkers”, and he defended the thesis on August 18, 2016.

Congratulations to Michael on being granted his PhD degree, also as the first of the EScoDNA fellows to do so.

Since May 16, 2016, Michael has been employed as a postdoctoral research assistant at Oxford’s Sir William Dunn School of Pathology in the group of Conrad Nieduszynski. The topic of his fellowship is using bioinformatics and big data methods to analyse sequencing data from Oxford Nanopore devices. The aim is to study DNA replication and characterise replication dynamics (origin activity, termination sites, replication fork velocity) at a single-molecule resolution.
