Kirstine obtained her master’s and PhD degrees in Nanoscience at Aarhus University, where she worked with unstructured proteins and RNA aptamer technology for early diagnostics of neurodegenerative diseases. RNA and DNA were modified with small molecules and binders known to interact with a neurodegenerative protein to increase the possibility of finding a strong and specific binder. Now she is working as a postdoc in collaboration with Kasper Okholm and Duncan Sutherland on developing aptamers and targeting toxins troubling the food industry.
