Julián is passionate about functional nucleic acids, aptamers and nucleic acid nanotechnology for biomedicine and synthetic biology. He did his PhD in supramolecular chemistry with Prof. de Mendoza at the ICIQ in Spain. He has also worked on artificial molecular motors and nucleic acid nanotechnology at Bonn University and the CAESAR MPI with Prof. Famulok in Germany. His goal is to develop smart, chemically-modified, and self-adaptive nucleic acid systems to enhance our understanding of fundamental biological processes and design better therapeutics. They say, “curiosity killed the cat.” Good thing I’m not a cat!
