Over one third of the plastics produced are used only once and then discarded. The majority of these plastics end up in landfills and our oceans. Professor Troels Skrydstrup has been awarded a Semper Ardens grant for developing new means to deconstruct some of the most commonly used plastics, which can then be exploited again as new useful plastic.
Professor Birgit Schiøtt (Department of Chemistry and iNANO) has received DKK 6.6 million (EUR 0.9 million) to establish a digital infrastructure platform to make simulations of complex biological systems.
The Fortune Award for Circular Economy Leadership 2019 has been given to iNANO's founder Professor Flemming Besenbacher for his great commitment to promoting circular economy in Denmark and internationally.
