Thomas Vosegaard is already familiar with the role of centre director, as he has been the acting centre director at iNANO since autumn 2020, when he took over from Trolle Linderoth. He has been affiliated with the centre since its inception 20 years ago. Since 2014, Thomas Vosegaard has been the centre director of the Danish Centre for Ultrahigh-Field NMR Spectroscopy, which is based at iNANO.

Thomas Vosegaard graduated from Aarhus University, with an MSc. in Chemistry in 1996 and a PhD In 1998. After two years as a postdoc at CNRS, Orléans in France, he returned to AU in 2000, where he was first assigned to the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics and later the Department of Chemistry, since 2011 as a professor.

From 2009 to 2013, he was the director of studies for the MSc in engineering degree programmes at AU and he was made acting director of Aarhus University School of Engineering in 2012.

"I'm pleased to be able to celebrate iNANO's 20th anniversary with the good news that Thomas Vosegaard is to be the new centre director. He is a recognised researcher with a solid affiliation and knowledge about iNANO and its research and teaching programmes. This will be a great benefit for the centre and the faculty.  I look forward to continuing our collaboration at iNANO and in the faculty management team," says Kristian Pedersen, dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

"iNANO has been something different ever since the early days. We’ve broken down barriers and created exceptional solutions within nanoscience and interdisciplinarity. I have ambitions and visions for the future of the centre, and I’m looking forward to continuing as the centre director, together with colleagues, partners and students," says Thomas Vosegaard.

His research is within NMR spectroscopy at the interdisciplinary interface for nanoscience between chemistry, molecular biology and physics. He is internationally recognised in this field of research, with focus on modelling and NMR studies of lipids. Besides NMR spectroscopic characterisation of molecules, he has been involved in several disciplines, from the synthesis of peptides to the development of new computer algorithms.

Thomas Vosegaard was born in 1970 and lives in Egå. He is married and has three children.
